2010 Sharjah Auto Show: Photo coverage

The 2010 Sharjah Auto Show is running from the 14th till the 18th of October, and this year was a better outing, with new model displays such as the BMW 316i, the Infiniti M, the Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren Sterling Moss Edition, the Cadillac CTS Coupe, the Mitsubishi ASX, the Nissan Qashqai and the Audi R8 Spyder. Also special were a tuner car section, a classic car section, a remote control car section, a drifting show and an off-road demo. And the Middle East Motor Awards, the first such event to span the region, was concluded with an awards ceremony for the judges as well as the winners. Photos by Faisal Khatib.

  1. Top marks to the organizers for the presentations right in front of the projector, the pictures look like a star wars stunt scene. Congrats on winning the smallest trophy of the lot. 😉 What was that for?

  2. i noticed that also 😛 smallest of all u got it 😛

The judges got a small version of the trophy.

  4. Small trophy for small (literally) people… 😛 *runs*

^You were the one on the other side, taking the photos :-p

  6. What does that have to do with the trophy size?? o_0

  7. I visited the show and it was not that impressive, many car makers didnt partecipate, like toyota, ford, GMC and many oters, any way, the CTS coupe and the tuarge were very nice cars although the tuarge is over priced (starting from 185 k – the fully loaded goes up to 225 k) I think many car makers decided not to participate to avoid embarressment because many of them now are working to luanch new models but they are not here yet like ford (new focus, edge, and explorer) toyota preferred not to parteticpate with almost all of its line 4 years old or even more, it would be shameful to display the camry or aurion or yaris or cruiser while they are there since 2007.

  8. The Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren Sterling Moss Edition is simply $eX on wheels .. and the RC Baja car is nice as well 😉
By the way, I noticed not one picture has a model around any of the displayed vehicles .. did you ask the women to move out of the way?? LOL

  9. I don’t like models covering the cars I’m trying to photograph so I usually frame them out of the picture or take a picture when they’re not around… 🙂

  10. I saw on the dyno testing outside, a 2 door lumina ss (the older one)… with 700 HP!! it had a supercharger
my question is, how do these people get a dubai number plate after all what they put in to their engines?!

^It is supposedly possible to get CID permission for modifications such as stickers and body kits. It may even extend to other major mods. Sometimes if the garage is big, they get the permits for you.

  12. Mash, u look great in the photo.went thru all the photos, i think its not necessary to go there, all the cars displayed in the show are seen above, but one photo is missing, a red beamer,it had been waxed and parked in the stall, any guess?

^the red bmw is in the pics, uncle asif

  14. The red lumina ss belongs to the owner of Al Numairy Performance Workshop (NPW) – Fadi.

And it won highest hp trophy at Barbican (600+hp). Another car from the same club won for the N/A section as well (400+hp).

That red lumina can put out more than that… but he’s still waiting for a particular tune for it…

  15. is that body kit of cruz available in uae market or is it just a show car?

  16. Author

^Liberty, the ‘other’ Chevy dealer has a tuner garage in Sharjah. That kitted one is a basic LS with a kit. Total cost listed there was 77k.

  17. i saw a very familiar red bmw m roadster in a stall there…wonder whose car it is 😛 :D…even took a snap wid it…owner wasnt anywhere around though 😀

  18. the new ford edge 2011 is gonna be displayed at the GITEX 2010..check it out and tell me what do you think about the sport version. cost would be around 149k for the full spec with 22 inch alloys and the new full touch screen display 😀
