Dubai Autodrome motorcycle track evenings get Superlap

The Dubai Autodrome Motorsport Club (DAMC) have added an edge to motorcycle track evenings by introducing the new Superlap competition during the summer.

The concept will allow riders who attend track evenings to post a fast laps, which will be timed and coordinated by the DAMC. The Superlap competition will take place after the regular timing of the motorcycle track evenings.

* Friday, 25 June Evening Club Circuit
* Friday, 9 July Evening Club Circuit
* Friday, 23 July Evening Club Circuit
* Friday, 6 August Evening Club Circuit

To enter the Superlap competition riders will need a minimum of 2010 Road Race competition license issued by the ATC UAE (FIM) or riders can obtain an appropriate 2010 Speed Licence at a cost of AED300 from the ATCUAE, this must be applied for at least 3 days before your first event and the rider must have at least:

* Proof of completion of a California Superbike School course;
* Completed at least two motorcycle track days at Dubai Autodrome.

There will be a mandatory rider’s briefing and their machines must pass scrutineering. The DAMC will ensure that the highest safety standards are adhered to and will provide the required safety crews and medical support.

Riders will be given one six minute warm-up stint followed by three six minute timed

Superlap sessions to record the times for the Superlap final. The best times out of the three Superlap runs will determine the top three in each class who go forward to the Superlap Final.

All competitors must have completed at least 3 laps in the practice in order to run in Superlap session to record time(s), and complete at least one timed Superlap to qualify for the Superlap Final. The Superlap final will consist of one timed lap.

The winner of each class will be presented with a trophy on the Dubai Autodrome podium at the end of proceedings.

DAMC Manager Richard Birch says of the Superlap concept, “We have decided to introduce Superlap due to the popular consensus from riders, attending track evenings at Dubai Autodrome, that such a competition would be well supported and welcomed by the motorcycle community. It offers established riders a way to stay at the top of their game while offering the opportunity for others to get a taste of competition.”

The DAMC Superlap is organised, promoted and administered by DAMC in accordance with the requirements of the Automobile & Touring Club of the United Arab Emirates (ATCUAE) incorporating the provisions of the International Sporting Code of the FIA.
